Dari text of the statement of the heroic woman Dr. Petunia Teishman at the protest More than 500,000 people in Berlin:
I stand here before you today to speak about a subject that touches not only my heart, but the hearts of many others in
It affects Germany - flight, asylum and solidarity. Especially from the perspective of women living in countries where gender apartheid exists.
The story of Shabnam, who committed suicide on New Year's Day in Kabul, or Zahra, who committed suicide after being released from a Taliban prison, shows the urgent need for solidarity and support for vulnerable people. In Afghanistan, the only country in the world where girls are denied an education, women are imprisoned, tortured, and sexually harassed simply for leaving their homes.
For many in Afghanistan, the federal admission program was the only hope for a safe life. People who fought for the rights of women and girls, worked with NATO forces and took a political stand against the Taliban. However, so far, only fewer than 100 people have come to Germany through the federal admission program.
It is disappointing to hear that, according to the AfD and far-right groups, these people do not deserve help. It is even claimed that those who come to Germany via dangerous routes should be sent back. This is in complete contradiction to our humanitarian values and the responsibilities we have as a country.
The fight against the AfD and far-right politics also requires that Germany ultimately take responsibility for the situation in Afghanistan. Accepting people who have worked for women's rights and democracy there in recent years should not be a generous gesture, but a humanitarian commitment.
It is time for the federal government to put its good words into practice. The solidarity we are discussing here today should not just be the subject of our conversations, but should be translated into tangible actions to provide a safe and dignified future for those who seek support.
Our duty is to stand up against all oppression and to stand up for the freedom of all people. The idea of sending back migrants and fascism must have no place in our country. We stand for openness, acceptance and a society in which every person is respected, regardless of their origin, faith or identity. Let us fight together for a strong Germany, characterised by diversity and solidarity.
Together we can defend the values that define our society. It is in our hands to shape a future where equality and humanity are at its core. Against the repatriation of migrants, against fascism, for tolerance, diversity and against all forms of oppression! Together we are strong. Let's walk this path together and for a better future for all of us.
